Communities Supporting Communities, One Tin At A Time

The East Riding Food Poverty Alliance (ERFPA) are encouraging residents across the East Riding to support families experiencing hardship this festive season. Donation points for ERFPA will be available at East Riding of Yorkshire Council premises from Friday 28 November.

Throughout 2024–25, ERFPA has provided more than 360,000 meals to people in crisis. Our work is supported by the council’s regeneration and funding team and made possible through the Household Support Fund.

As a partnership of foodbanks across the region, we’re grateful that East Riding of Yorkshire Council has set up donation drop-off points at leisure centres, libraries, and multi-service centres such as Hornsea Hub. Donations can also be made at other council-run locations, including Bridlington Spa and South Cliff caravan park. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the full list of locations.

We welcome a wide range of contributions — tinned goods, cereals, pasta, rice, snacks, tea and coffee — as well as essential non-food items like toiletries, household supplies, and pet food. These donations make a real difference to local people in need.

Residents can also support their local food bank by volunteering time to help with sorting, packing or distributing food, or by making a financial contribution directly to ERFPA.

Councillor Lyn Healing, cabinet member for communities and public protection, said:
“The East Riding Food Poverty Alliance play a key role in supporting the vulnerable across our communities, and we’re proud to support their vital work. We encourage residents to get involved and help out this Christmas, and throughout the year.”

Our chair, Jo Ramsay, added:
“Here in the East Riding of Yorkshire, hunger often hides in plain sight. It affects neighbours, colleagues, and families across our region. Your support helps us provide not just food, but hope, dignity, and a lifeline to those facing hardship in our communities.”
