East Riding Food Poverty Alliance Launches Recipe Pack Project to Support Local Families.
The East Riding Food Poverty Alliance (ERFPA) is helping households across the region cook healthy, affordable meals through a new recipe pack initiative. The project, funded by The Albert Hunt Trust and City Health Care Partnership (CHCP), is designed to provide families and individuals who access member organisations with the ingredients and inspiration to prepare simple home-cooked dishes.
In August, ERFPA partnered with Cherry Tree Community Pantry to distribute 240 recipe bags to pantry customers. Each pack included all the essentials to make either a hearty vegetable chilli or a classic spaghetti bolognaise, alongside an easy-to-follow recipe card. The feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive, with many welcoming the chance to try new meals while stretching their budgets further.

Looking ahead, ERFPA will continue the project in October by working with The Hinge Centre in Bridlington during their upcoming Community Conversation event. By bringing communities together around food, the Alliance hopes to build confidence in cooking skills, reduce food waste, and make nutritious meals more accessible to those who need them most.

This project is part of ERFPA’s wider mission to support people experiencing food insecurity across the East Riding, while also encouraging long-term solutions that empower communities.
All the recipes throughout this project will be available here to download.
